The Mystic Knights are the number one Blues Band in the Pittsburgh area and in all surrounding States, now they are reaching across the pond to Europe.

The driving force behind the tri-State area Blues scene can be desribed in three words The Mystic Knights . Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, they formed at the historic Decade Club , nationally known as the region's "Home of the Blues". Since 1987 this band has logged in thousands of concerts all over the eastern USA, and have received no less than 10 in Pittsburgh Magazine Awards as televised and sponsored by the KDKA TV station.

Keyboardist Gil "The Duke" Snyder , now a member of Pittsburgh's Music Hall of Fame with names like Joe Negri, Walt Harper, George Benson, Tommy James & the Shondells, and Porky Chedwick has also worked in the studio and on stage with the likes of Bruce Springstein, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Little Steven, and Mick Ronsen. His songwriting for Pittsburgh's "Iron City House Rockers" second album won Rolling Stone Magazine's Jazz and Pop Critic's Poll Award receiving 4 stars.

Guitarist "Big Daddy" Balou and his world weary, romantic guitar licks have served him well. His sensuous but hard edged technique has dealt him work from Louisiana to Canada. He's clocked in more than 30 years of experience since playing his first professional gig at age 11.

The strongest rhythm section around belongs to the Mystic Knights, with Joe Cunningham on drums and Ron Gerkman on bass. The high energy level produced by this tandem has been highlighted in reviews across the entire north eastern USA.

But the main attraction of this band is forty year veteran of the Blues and lead singer "Chizmo" Charles Anderson . Known as the "King of the Blues" in the city of Pittsburgh, he took 1995's R & B Singer of the Year Award , again in 1996, and yet again in 1997, and is also a member of the City's Music Hall of Fame. His charm and compelling voice are felt by every member of the audience.

The group's status in the area has resulted in them sharing the stage with the world's finest Blues acts such as B. B. King, Johnny Winter, Robert Cray, Bo Diddely, John Mayall, and Koko Taylor just to name a few.

Their song, "The Bucs are Back" is featured as the theme song for the Pittsburgh Pirates Major League Baseball team and gets radio and TV air play before and after each game. They also make an appearance in an Iron City Beer TV spot which features the band performing live and doing their song "Spread Yourself Around" from their new CD entitled "Heart of Steel" . The CD is currently being released in the States and will be available here in Europe in early April.

The band also hosts their own radio show once a month that is broadcast live from the Blues Cafe on WYEP 91.3 FM, the Home of the Blues in Pittsburgh. The band also has radio air play commitments in Austria, Germany, Belgium, Holland, and Switzerland to begin in April.
